If there's a more compelling contemporary work for guitar quartet than the three-movement 'Opals', i'd be very interested to hear it. Performed here by Guitar Trek, Opals vividly captures in sound the translucent beauty and ever-changing texture of Australia's National stone. Maybe there's also a hint of Mike Oldfield in the dense yet
clearly-defined layering of the parts.
