Stele is inspired by the Grecian landscape and Greek mythology and in particular by various forms of classical sculpture. There are four movements: Stele, Dervish, Bronze Apollo and Web. This is an extended work of great imaginative force and rythmic vitality which is a major contribution to the guitar repertoire. Phillip Houghton was in the audience for the occasion and John Williams called the composer to the stage to share in the applause.
